At the studio- school group hand sewing or machine sewing

MONDAY- FRIDAY IN THE MORNING. We will coordinate to book a time that works for both parts. 

Length: 2-3 hours

Ages: 6 and up

This is a creative and educational workshop for which you will choose in advance a project  to work on during the two hours. This can be either a hand sewing or a machine sewing project.

For Hand sewing: Children learn hand sewing skills while they work on their fine motor skills and enhance their creativity. We will practice threading and tying knots, which is the trickiest part of hand sewing. 

We’ll also learn the difference between the whip, blanket, and running stitches, and how to sew a button. 

For Machine sewing: Children will learn the basics of machine sewing. We will practice threading the machine and winding the bobbin. They will sew on straight lines and turning corners with the sewing machine. 

Children will come back home with an up-cycled and finished either hand sewing or machine sewing item made by themselves.

All materials are included for this workshop.

We work with pre-loved clothes and discarded textiles.

Children will learn basic hand-sewing skills while developing their fine-motor coordination and creativity. They will practice threading a needle and tying knots—often the trickiest parts of hand sewing—and learn the differences between the whip stitch, blanket stitch, and running stitch. They will also learn how to sew on a button.

Children will learn the basics of machine sewing, including how to thread the machine and wind a bobbin. They will practice sewing straight lines and turning corners while operating the sewing machine.

At the end of the workshop, each child will take home a finished, upcycled item they made themselves—either by hand sewing or machine sewing.

All materials are included. We work with pre-loved clothing and discarded textiles.
